Opening Doors, Building Careers, Changing Lives
The UCI-OC Alliance is leveling the playing field for students who face systemic barriers to career success. Founded in 2021, this community-driven initiative connects students with career exposure, professional development and networks that would otherwise be inaccessible due to financial constraints.
When students can't afford unpaid internships, professional attire or transportation to field sites, opportunity gaps widen. The Alliance closes those gaps – ensuring that talent, not financial circumstances, determines career outcomes.
By supporting the UCI-OC Alliance, you help students gain career exposure and opportunities that might otherwise be inaccessible due to financial constraints, including:
- Engaging in research presentations that contribute to business outcomes, allowing students to apply academic concepts directly in a professional setting.
- Supporting student stipends to participate in unpaid opportunities without financial strain.
- Facilitating real-world industry projects to allow students to work on relevant challenges, showcasing their abilities to potential employers.
- Attending conferences and events to meet industry leaders, explore career paths and build important connections.
Some of the projects previously supported by gifts made to the Alliance include:
- Field Study Support: Vouchers for transportation or professional attire, helping students participate in field studies without financial barriers.
- Leadership Summit: An all-day event designed to enhance leadership capacity and promote career readiness, covering topics like financial wellness, mental health, communication skills and networking.
- UC Irvine and UC Riverside PhD candidates and MFA students to be paired with community college faculty mentors, gaining insights into faculty careers and career paths through hands-on experiences.
