The UCI Counseling Center is the primary counseling and mental health agency for UC Irvine undergraduate and graduate students. The UCI Counseling Center is committed to delivering quality services that help students achieve optimal mental health for academic success, personal growth, and increased capacity to cope with the stresses of being a university student through clinical and outreach services. The Counseling Center also provides training and learning opportunities to prepare future leaders in mental health and other service-oriented positions. The center strives to elevate the student experience and create pathways to success through a wide range of multiculturally based clinical, outreach, prevention, and training services.
One of the ways the Counseling Center has looked to empower our student body is through the Art of Healing Showcase. Now in its 3rd year the Art of Healing Showcase exhibits artwork created by UCI students. The goals of the Art of Healing Showcase are to educate about and address mental health issues that can impact academic and personal functioning among students, as well as decrease mental health stigma through the mode of art. At the UCI Counseling Center we acknowledge that this can be done in many ways. The Showcase allows students to heal through the creation and exhibition of art and also by the bystander interacting, experiencing, and seeing the artwork in the Counseling Center.
The Art of Healing Showcase is a yearlong art exhibit that is unveiled in May of each year during Mental Health Awareness month. The artwork is then exhibited within the Counseling Center for the following academic year. Although we have had to postpone this year’s unveiling due to current circumstances, we are looking forward to the time when we can resume this program. Your monetary contributions will allow the center to continue to host the showcase on a yearly basis by helping us address costs related to
