Service has been at the core of UCI School of Law’s mission since its founding in 2007. UCI School of Law has a deeply imbedded culture of public service, and we seek to enable and ensure that our graduates will be committed to providing legal services to those most in need, either through pro bono service in their private practice, or as public interest attorneys.
Students dedicated to a career in public interest law receive significant support at UCI School of Law, including opportunities within and outside of school. In addition to a robust public interest curriculum, experiential learning opportunities, speakers and tailored career counseling, UCI School of Law understands that financial assistance is necessary in order to support those with aspirations of serving the public good.
Because public interest organizations rely on volunteer attorneys to provide pro bono assistance, the Public Interest Law Fund stipends allow UCI School of Law students to cover basic living costs while they are working without pay.
Since 2010, we have distributed more than $500,000 to UCI law students for summer stipends, allowing students to volunteer well over 60,000 hours to assist underserved organizations over the past four summers.
