Diabetes affects nearly 26 million American children and adults, according to the National Institutes of Health. It is the leading cause of kidney failure, adult blindness and amputations of limbs not associated with trauma.

UC Irvine Health physicians have access to breakthrough research happening in our own labs that offers people in the community and beyond new methods for treatment and hope for a healthier tomorrow.

With your help, we can expand the pathways of discoveries and recruit more pioneering physician-researchers. Your gift will help with:

  • Drug discovery to develop new therapies to improve the care of diabetes and its complications.
  • Advancing research for better treatment of and ultimately a cure for type I diabetes.
  • Fellowship support for Ph.D. students to complete their research training at UCI.
